My wife recently had a appointment in june 2019 for a pelvic and breast exam only that medicare covers once every 2 years.She arrived for the appointment,was called in and went through the usual procedure at a appointment(blood pressure,weight etc.) and then the doctor comes in and proceeds to interview her with questions not related to a pelvic and breast examination such as family history going way, way back and what medications she is or was on.She didnot find it odd since alot of doctors ask this before they do what you are there for.The Dr.Novatt did the pelvic and breast examination and found no issuesand she left the office.She just received a declined claim from medicare for one of 2 procedures that caremount medical billed medicare for.Medicare paid for the pelvic and breast examination but declined the 1st claim called"iniatial new patient medicine evaluation" that she never made a appointment for but was sneakily included and billed separately in the same doctor visit.Now get this !Caremount billed Medicare for this extra service $533.00 which Medicare denied in the claim.Caremount purposely picked out a code to submit to Medicare knowing in advance that medicare will not pay it,thus the financial burden falls back to the patient since the patient signs a form for financial responsibility.Can you imagine you being billed for something you were never advised on before and including it in appointment that had no relevance to a pelvic and breast exam.The Doctor asked questions about her past that were irrelevant to the appointment so that Caremount could bill Medicare for something not needed.It appears that even though Caremount Medical has agreed to accept medicare,they are unhappy with the reimbursement rate of medicare and they are trying to double bill under 2 diffent claim codes to get get a better payment for the pelvic and breast examination.If I were you I would carefully examine your decision to chose caremount ,especially if you are on medicare!

I have heard nothing from caremount medical and donot expect to since they hold their ground.I have turned this over to the attorney generals office in albany ny--health bureau to process this claim against caremount medical,but have not yet heard back ! I have a case # and it is still pending
